Army Acts to Retain Even Problem Enlistees

The Army may be bending standards to keep up its roster. Battalion commanders are told they must get permission from superiors before bouncing recruits for poor fitness, pregnancy, alcohol-drug abuse or generally below-par performance.

This was certainly not the case when I was in the Army – ~ 20 years ago.
