Global stopgap for US nurse deficit

Even doctors are getting nursing degrees as labor shortages in the US prompt recruitment abroad.

The number of foreign-educated nurses coming into the country more than tripled from 4,000 in 1998 to 15,000 in 2004. They now represent as much as 10 percent of all practicing nurses in the U.S.
