Crappy customer service from Musician’s Friend:

Musician’s Friend sent me a coupon for 20% off one product. When I tried to use it, I received a message stating that it had already been used and would I like to chat with someone. I did chat with someone and was told there was nothing he could do, but I could call and get another coupon. That wasn’t what I wanted. The chat transcript is listed below:


Layton: Hi, my name is Layton. How may I help you?

Steve Jenkins: I was emailed a 20% off coupon code, t240ayw7wq3m. When I tried to use it, I received an error message saying the usage limit has been exceeded, but I haven't used the code. What's the deal?

Layton: Did you enter the code more than once? They void themselves if entered more than once.

Steve Jenkins: I haven't used the code.

Layton: Unfortunately, I don't have alternate 20% codes. I'd recommend calling in and we'll see what we can do. Our phone number is: (800) 776-5173

Steve Jenkins: Let me get this straight. You send me a 20% off coupon. When I try to use it, it says it's already been used, and you can't do anything about it. That's some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. Please remove my email address from all of your mailing lists. If this is the way you run your business, I never want to hear from you again.

Layton: I normally have alternate codes. But I have run out. I'm not saying you're out of luck. We can absolutely help you over the phone.

Steve Jenkins: Just remove my name from your mailing lists. This has ticked me off, and I don't want to get on the phone and explode on one of you.

Layton: Alright, I can do that. If you change your mind we can get that 20% discount for you over the phone. Is there anything else I can assist you with?
